Jan and Elly

Kerin is starting her phonics class at Jan & Elly this Sunday. We have been waiting to enroll her into this course and frankly, you can miss any other enrichment classes but phonics is a MUST. Phonics basically helps the kids to connect sounds of letters and teaching them to blend the sounds of letters together to produce approximate pronunciations of unknown words. It will help greatly in equipping the kids with a lifetime reading skills. Personally, I am pretty weak in this area throughout my education journey, therefore, I must ensure that Juz and Kerin are well equipped.

Juz went through the training under Teacher Paul (a very Good Teacher!) and now is Kerin's turn.

Today is the first class and though 1 parent is allowed to stay with the kid and Kerin does show some initial signs of 'fear' and 'unwillingness' to go into the class. But I guess Teacher Paul interesting presentation of the material captive her and without any hesitation, she allows me to leave the room. We are proud of her though 1 of her classmates was crying nonstop, she has no issue to stay in the room and did her work well.

All ready to Go!! Daddy bought her new bag to encourage her. (And she is very excited abt it too!)

Found this website which has a detail writeup on Phonics + link to some phonics websites :-
