SAHM for a day

Juz was under the weather.. out of the blue, he has decided to be a little merlion and threw up non-stop last nite... Hiaazz... luckily for us, he is old enough to take care of himself.. but then, couldn't help to get abit worried. His had a bad case of stomach flu 3 years ago which he ended up in hospital for 1wk so not to take any chances, we decided to send him to Dr Chan next morning.

Well, according to Dr Chan, nothing serious, just take a day off and rest at home. So, I took urgent childcare leave and stay at home. Cook some porridge for him, do laundry, help him with his school work and do some work at the same time and oh boy, time just flies.. (and we managed to squeeze in some fun time downstairs cycling). And at the end of the day, I still need to finish some of office stuff till now. Sigh..I think i need a MC tomorrow.. just to rest.

Is life really fair?

Don't worry, I am not into any melodramatic mood despite a very cloudy and rainy Sunday. Kel and I were at Sgn Gdn Mkt eating bf this morning and from afar, we could hear songs blasting in the market. At first, I thought it was one of the stall holder's radio playing some nice songs for the morning crowds but as we searched for seats, the beautiful songs were actually sang by a blind man with his fully equipped sound system + an organ. He belt out Chinese, English and Hokkien oldies and pop songs in a breeze and we are truly amazed by his ability and sadden that he could only showcase his talents in this little market.

Kel commented that life is fair...cos heaven gave u a beautiful voice, it has to take away something from you. To me, heaven is not fair at all. There are alot of bad pple who are still getting away from all the bad deeds they hv done and still enjoying life and there are alot of pple who hv done nothing to harm anyone but they are suffering constantly. As we live long enough, we hv slowly learnt to be unkind, inconsiderate and selfish in our ways in order to protect ourselves.

Anyway, most probably I will be at the mkt again next Sunday. Appreciating and giving him a fair recognition of his talents.

Show and tell

Juz came home on thur with a note from the teacher ... that he is due for a presentation on next Wed! Presentation? At his level? Well, apparently, his sch has adopted the American style of teaching and they are having SHOW and TELL session. SHOW and TELL is common in American schools where they will show their classmates an item from home or a topic and telling them why they choose this particular item and some relevant information about it and this is suppose to build up the kids public speaking skills (pls note being talkative vs ability to talk sense is two different thing).

So, he has two topics to choose from. One is to talk about his Favourite Sea Creature or to talk about his family. He has chosen to talk about his family and we are going to choose some pics for him to present and help him prepare his presentation pointers. The whole family is much involved, trying to choose the best pics and going through the points. So, i guess this is more than 'just' another task from school, it allows some bonding time via activities like this.

Crocs for kids

Frankly, I am not a big fan for Crocs Cayman shoes :) no offense to those who hv them. I just prefer the sandals type (though the one i hv is from scholl) and they are extremely lightweight and comfortable for walking and of course, extremely pricey too.

Recently my friend introduced me to a blog where this mummy is organising bulk purchases at a discount of 30% off the regular retail price. She takes preorders and has a variety of available stocks and sizes for instant purchase. Since Kerin was outgrowing her brother's hand-me down green cayman, we decided to get her a Dancing Dora at a steal of $38!!. As for Juz, we wanted to get him a Sponge Bob but then, his size is out of stock. Well, too bad then!

In order not to disappoint him, we did promise to look ard for him and today, as we were shopping at Thomson Plaza after music class, I came upon this small stall selling crocs at 30% to 50% off!! And so luckily, there is One Sponge Bob left for his size and it was only selling at $35!!

Hohoho.. so happily, we bought it home and now the two of them can wear their matching cartoon cayman happily to classes every weekend.

Juz's Sponge Bob (though daddy say it looks ugly.. we all find it NICE!!)

Goodbye

Well, it has died..after 9 yrs!! It has finally decided to leave me.. and I am so sad. This is the calculator my mentor gave it to me 9 yrs ago when i first joined planning and it has been with me since then, battling numerous fsct cycles, upsides, downsides and much more.. it is not just a calculator but a reminder that I must be like my mentor who is unselfish in sharing knowledge and always there to help and mentor the younger peers. She has been a very good role model and one of those few kind souls I hv met in my career.

Well, my good pal.. will leave u in office to rest in peace, while I continue to struggle with the new calculator.. *sob sob..

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Last Sunday, we celebrated Singapore's birthday near where the actions were. We were at the bay to wave our little flags and kel booked a room at Swissotel The Stamford Hotel so that we don't hv to battle our way back home..(though we aint living very far frm town..but then..well..AA members hv promotion rate...)

Actually, we didn't pay the price for harbour view room, therefore, we didn't expect that the hotel staff were so 'kind' to get us a 'half' harbour view room (which means, not good enough to view the parade but good enough to see the fireworks!!) All thanks to the kids for charming the staff!!

So, off we go to our 31st storey room!!!

Kids were so excited that they started rolling on the beds!! Extra bed was thrown FOC!

Our View from the balcony!
Before the parade starts, let's go for a dip in the pool!! (Sad to say.. the pool is really packed with Singaporeans!!) Hardly any space to move..so, we move our fun back to the room!!

Tattoos were given to the kids..

The parade started!!
Lots and lots of pictures can be view frm FB...I am still trying to upload the fireworks video.. But it is surely taking a long time..
